Canadian Kaetlyn Osmond to miss rest of season

Kaetlyn Osmond, two-time Canadian figure skating champion, will not defend her title at the upcoming Canadian Tire National Skating Championships.

Earlier this season, Kaetlyn was forced off the ice for several weeks after fracturing her right fibula in a fall. Although she returned to the ice, Kaetlyn and her coach made the difficult decision to focus on a longer recovery, rather than pushing to compete this winter.

By missing the National Championships, Kaetlyn will not be part of the Canadian team at the ISU Four Continents and ISU World Figure Skating Championships later this season.

“It was a really hard decision for me not to compete this year,” said Kaetlyn in a Skate Canada press release. “I tried everything to be able to come back, but I just couldn’t get to where I wanted to be for competitions this year. I’m hoping this break and healing time will set me up for a great season next year.”

About Us

Skate Today was created in November 2004 to showcase the people of the skating world, skaters and coaches and others, who make figure skating and ice dancing a pleasure to watch for fans from around the world. The goal was to create a site that would give viewers an insight into the personalities of the people involved in this sport and to give you a more personal connection when watching them live at an event or on the television. Our staff knows how much time and dedication is put into this sport and that's why Skate Today was created.
