Skate Today

Drop a bucket of ice water over your head, take a video, and post it on social media, then challenge others to take the plunge to keep the cycle going.

If those nominated choose not to accept the challenge within 24 hours, they’re asked to donate to Lou Gehrig’s disease research or to a charity of their choice.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has become a call to arms to raise money and awareness for the disease, for which there is no cure.

Figure skaters, former skaters and coaches have joined the challenge! Check out the videos below and then make a donation to the ALS Association or ALS Canada.

Note: The support from skaters participating in the #ALSIceBucketChallenge has been overwhelming! To improve the speed of this page, we moved the videos off our site. To watch your favourite skaters take the challenge, please watch our full collection on our YouTube Channel.

About Us

Skate Today was created in November 2004 to showcase the people of the skating world, skaters and coaches and others, who make figure skating and ice dancing a pleasure to watch for fans from around the world. The goal was to create a site that would give viewers an insight into the personalities of the people involved in this sport and to give you a more personal connection when watching them live at an event or on the television. Our staff knows how much time and dedication is put into this sport and that's why Skate Today was created.
