Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy of Germany debuted their new free program to Flameco Bolero by Gustavo Monesano. The Germans earned 129.10 in the free and only had the second best program component scores of the day.

“It was quite a good performance considering we have new costumes and new music” said Szolkowy.

Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, of Canada, skated their free program to Angel by Philippe Rombi. The music is from the Angel movie based on the book the same title. The program featured a high triple twist, side-by-side triple lutzes and a three jump combination (triple salchow, double toe-loop, double-toe loop), Group 4 lift and a pair combination spin. Duhamel and Radford had the highest program component scores of the pairs’ event.

“We’re really happy with how the program went… We’re happy to get the second mark up” Radford said.

Stefania Berton and Ondrej Hotarek earned a free program score of 112.24 and won the bronze medal. One of the highlights of the program was the teams forward inside death spiral which earned positive GOEs from all of the judges.

“We improved our personal best. We will continue to make improvements and hope to skate even better” Hotarek said.
