The International Skating Union Council has ruled 2010 Olympic Silver medalist Evgeny Plushenko has breached ISU eligibility rules.
“Based on evidence presented the Council has concluded that Mr. Evgeny Plushenko breached the ISU eligibility rule 102, paragraph 2, i) of the ISU General Regulations and as a consequence has become ineligible under paragraph 7 a) of that rule. The evidence has proved to the satisfaction of the Council that Mr. E. Plushenko, a skater and member of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FSFR), skated in exhibitions held in March and April 2010, in Russia and other countries, without the express prior authorization of the FSFR. Such activity is a breach of the ISU eligibility rules and results in the loss of eligibility.
The present decision communicated to both Mr E. Plushenko and the FSFR may be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Lausanne, Switzerland, within 21 days upon receipt of the decision, in accordance with Article 25, paragraph 2, c) of the ISU Constitution.”
From the ISU Communication No. 1622
With the Olympics heading to Sochi in 2014, we can only imagine Plushenko will appeal the decision to retain his eligibility.
What do you think? Should the ISU allow him to keep his eligibility or should their decision stand?

No they should NOT allow him to be eligible anymore. He broke teh rules..and he KNEW the rules. The skating world needs a break from his arrogance. He seems to believe that it is OK for him to diss all the other skaters..he has proven he is a sore loser, and his time has past. I for one, wont miss him.
While it’s true that Plushenko might’ve violated some rules, we need to take into account the fact that professional figure skating is a dangerous world, like basically all other professions that involve some sort of personal contract with some sort of organization (I’m personally a musician and if we’re under contract with an organization then we can’t do public performances without their permission). I think Plushenko should at most be temporarily suspended from participating in ISU events but can still make it for the Sochi olympics. After all, a true artist’s main concern should be perfecting his passion and not about figuring out politics or those tricky rules. You’ll forever be a legend and we’re with you, Plushenko!!!
