London to host 2013 ISU World Championships

The International Skating Union (ISU) has awarded the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships to London, Ontario.  The event will be held March 10 to 17, 2013 at the John Labatt Centre. The Western Fair Sports Centre will serve as the practice arena.

“We are honoured to once again host the ISU World Figure Skating Championships,” said William Thompson, CEO Skate Canada. “It really provides us with an opportunity to showcase our sport, and offer an unparalleled world-class event.”

The 2013 event will mark the 10th time a Canadian city has played host since 1896.  Calgary was the last Canadian city to host the Championships.

Ticket and additional event information will be available in the spring of 2011.

The 2011 ISU World Championships will be held in Tokyo, Japan and in 2012 Nice, France will host the prestigious event.

The ISU also announced the 2013 ISU European Figure Skating Championships will be held January 21-27, 2013 in Zagreb, Croatia and the 2013 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships will be held February 25 – March 3, 2013 in Milano, Italy.
