Victoria to host 2011 BMO Canadian Championships

Skate Canada has announced that Victoria, B.C., will be the host city for the 2011 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships and the 2011 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals. The events will be held at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre from January 17-23, 2011. The 2011 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals will run from January 17-20 and the 2011 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships will go from January 21-23.

This will be the third time Victoria has hosted the Canadian Championships previously held there in 1978 and 1988. Victoria has hosted Skate Canada International in 1984, 1992 and 2006.

“British Columbia has been a very special place for Canadian skaters these past several years. We are delighted to bring these two events here and to continue such a wonderful tradition of Canadian skating in Victoria,” said William Thompson, Skate Canada CEO.

All-event ticket packages for the events will go on sale in mid-June.

About Us

Skate Today was created in November 2004 to showcase the people of the skating world, skaters and coaches and others, who make figure skating and ice dancing a pleasure to watch for fans from around the world. The goal was to create a site that would give viewers an insight into the personalities of the people involved in this sport and to give you a more personal connection when watching them live at an event or on the television. Our staff knows how much time and dedication is put into this sport and that's why Skate Today was created.
